The award winning 4:33am Brooch is a hollow torus form defined by a dense textured surface of layered gold lines across dark oxidised silver.
Crafted in sterling silver, the circular form is covered with tangled and twisted strips of keum boo in 18ct green gold, 22ct green gold and 24ct yellow gold. Each strip is individually fused to the surface by hand, building a richly textured pattern with shifting tones of gold across the darker silver beneath.
The design is inspired by a sunrise witnessed at 4:33am on Saltburn beach. The layered gold lines reflect the scattered light of early morning across wet sand, sea and sky, capturing the energy of a fleeting moment remembered clearly through time.
This brooch was awarded Bronze in the 3D Craft Jewellers category at the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Awards 2026.
